Are you ready to say goodbye to white-knuckling?
“The world needs dreamers and the world needs doers. But above all, the world needs dreamers who do.” ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach
I brought my waterproof notebook and a pencil into the tub last week and thought through my goals for 2022.
I relaxed in toasty water, filled with lavender salts, and stared out over the mountains. After about 30 minutes or so, I surveyed my paper and loved what I saw. An overall vision for 2022 that was exciting. Fun. Simple. Inspiring. Joyful. A big difference from how I did year-end planning up until 2016.
The Gun of Productivity
I used to set goals with the Gun of Productivity up to my temple.
I used to try to outrun a gnawing lack of self-worth by achieving my way forward.
And while I certainly accomplished many things I set my sights on, it was always from an edgy place of “I’m not enough.” Working and living and creating from that energetic state has a very limited shelf life. It is not sustainable. It robs us of our best ideas, our joy, and our playfulness. It holds at bay our fertile creative expression and access to our singular intuition that is the birthplace of unique discoveries.
Discoveries that only we can make. Discoveries that resonate powerfully with those we want to serve. Discoveries that draw our ideal clients right to us.
Recrafting Our Planning
Over the last five years, I have recrafted from the ground up how I do strategic planning and goal setting. I have created a process that helps me get clear on what worked during the year (and why), what did not work (and why), what it is I want to have happen in the coming year, the gap between where I am now and where I want to be, and how it is I want to feel. I surface any limiting beliefs and turn them around. I think in terms of subtraction, simplification, and delegation. I focus on what brings me alive and what I love.
Then I map it out, quarter by quarter. Make it artful. I wrap it up by creating fun and colorful goal cards that I can flip through each morning.
Try this yourself! Most likely, you will have at least one breakthrough which propels you forward.
Clarity. Decisiveness. Confidence.
Say goodbye to grasping/white-knuckling and hello to a state of buoyancy.
