To dare is to lose one’s footing momentarily. To not dare is to lose oneself.” —Søren Kierkegaard
It has been a very emotional week, and there’s nothing like a zinger from Kierkegaard to bring me into a zone of calm and courage. His words have a way of cutting through the noise, a reminder that life’s most precious moments often live just beyond the boundaries of comfort.
He reminds us that inaction from fear is choosing familiarity over the stirring jolt of a daring move. And in those waters of perceived safety, our true selves sink to the bottom with leaden regret.
The Dream That No One Knows About
I have a dream that most people know nothing about.
A big, luscious vision that sets every synapse in my brain to a giddy dance of seeking new connections, firing up hopping synchronicity from the generous Unified Field.
Each time I step forward and take action (no matter how small), I feel the ground wobble. I question my thinking, my ability to pull it off. But every wobbly step is a testament to my commitment to bring this vision to life.
I go to my journal and map ideas on page after page. Each word I write brings me closer to clarity, turning vague notions into tangible plans. The more I write, the more I can see and know for certain that my dream is not only a perfect fit—an outrageous, fabulous, 3-D version of who I truly am and what I love—it has the potential to change thousands and thousands of lives.
So, I am choosing to answer what Joseph Campbell describes as The Call and say Yes. Embracing this call means stepping forward with courage, daring to explore the unknown, and following the path toward pursuing my dreams wholeheartedly.
Choosing Daring Over Comfort: The Key to Pursue Your Dreams
Daring isn’t a guaranteed path to success. But daring does shake us awake, reminding us we’re alive. It challenges our strengths, can reveal our weaknesses, and pulls us away from the danger of stagnation, bringing us closer to the life we truly want.
When we choose safety over daring, we risk drifting into lives that no longer fit. We become distant from our authentic selves, numbed by unfulfilling routines. To live fully and pursue your dreams, you must push beyond comfort and discover what truly matters.
I am reminded daily that my courage loves a good workout. It wants to run like a stallion through an open field. My biggest job is to slip off the bridle and turn it loose.
Daring isn’t always about taking giant leaps, though. Most times, it’s about taking small, steady steps in a direction we’ve never walked before. Each step may feel uncertain, but with each one, we grow. We change. We get a little closer to becoming the person we need to be to bring our dreams to life.
What Daring Dream is Calling You?
What are you dreaming of and/or working on right now that feels too daring? Maybe it’s something you’ve only whispered to yourself, a vision that excites and terrifies you all at once.
Remember, there’s no step too small when you pursue your dreams and answer your own call. If you like, reply and share it with me. If you need support, let me know.
I’m right beside you.
