I recently watched the film Limitless, and was fascinated by its premise of a struggling writer suddenly unlocking his untapped potential. Like Bradley Cooper’s character in the film, it is so tempting to wish for a simple fix—a way to finally find more energy, spark fresh inspiration, and unlock the full use of our brains without the constant hum of distraction, stress, and overwhelm.
The journey of an entrepreneur or creator is so often framed as an endless, exhausting climb, but what if the secret to building the business and life you dream of isn’t about looking outward at all? What if you already hold the keys to a vast reserve of untapped potential just waiting to be set free? We spend so much time desperately searching the world for the missing piece of the puzzle, completely forgetting that our sharpest instincts and most innovative solutions are already inside us.
Everything you can imagine is real. —Pablo Picasso
The Fantasy of the “Magic Pill”
In Limitless, a struggling writer takes a mysterious pill that gives him total access to his brain, suddenly allowing him to think faster, create brilliantly, solve impossible problems, and move through life with almost superhuman clarity.
It is fantasy, of course, but it hits a nerve because nearly every entrepreneur, artist, and exhausted high-achiever has wondered what would change in our businesses, art, and lives if we had full access to every corner of our minds, intuition, imagination, and problem-solving ability.
Who would we become if our energy were not constantly leaking into stress, overwhelm, and survival mode?
Most entrepreneurs and creators are cut off from their brilliance. We are white-knuckling our way through burnout while sitting on top of a gold mine of untapped potential.
We have been conditioned to believe that greatness lives somewhere outside of us. In another productivity hack or in the ubiquitous advice found online.
But that belief is the very thing keeping us disconnected from our deepest intelligence.
Reclaiming Your Inner Gold Mine
The treasure is already within us. The instincts that know exactly when to pivot. The imagination is capable of seeing opportunities nobody else can see.
We can access our problem-solving acumen and rekindle the creative fire that once made us feel electric and alive.
We can illuminate the centers of our brain that have been buried beneath stress, overwork, and the fight-or-flight response by applying the principles I wrote about in my book, Buoyant.
Buoyant is a journey to removing the weight that keeps our natural genius trapped underwater. It is about reclaiming energy, emotional resilience, creative capacity, and inner momentum so we can stop operating from depletion and start operating from alignment.
Because when we are burned out, our world shrinks and our thinking becomes reactive. Our creativity dries up, and our untapped potential gets buried under the weight of sheer exhaustion. Even simple decisions feel impossible.
But when we begin restoring our connection to our authentic nature and to what brings us alive, rather than constantly forcing external results, something remarkable happens.
Not only do our neural pathways fire and wire anew, but ideas return, and we trust our instincts. We tap into rich wells of imaginative solutions as we exchange chasing for creating.
Questions to Unlock Your Untapped Potential
Powerful shifts begin with asking ourselves better questions. Try these journaling prompts:
- If I fully trusted that the wisdom, creativity, and next answers already existed within me, what would I stop doing? What would I subtract from my daily habits and To Do lists?
- What am I currently treating as impossible that might simply be unorganized? Write freely. You are looking for places where limitation might be a lack of structure, not a lack of ability.
- What do I already know how to do that I have not been consistently applying? Be specific. Skills, habits, decisions you already understand but have not fully committed to.
A Daily Practice for Limitless Growth
And here is a simple daily practice to begin rebuilding access to your inner world…
For ten minutes each morning, before checking your phone, sit with a notebook and write one page beginning with the following:
“Today, the best of my intuition, subconscious mind, and soul wants me to notice…”
The most powerful people (those with agency) are the ones who have learned how to hear themselves clearly again.
And once that connection returns, everything changes—our work, art, leadership, energy. We finally bring our untapped potential to the surface, transforming not just our businesses, but our lives.
Let’s return to that space on purpose. Stop waiting for an external shift and begin practicing internal access. Treat attention as a tool, intention as a compass, and action as the bridge.
Over time, what once felt impossible or too distant begins to feel within our reach at last.
We can become limitless when we finally stop living disconnected from the vastness already inside of us.
