What Is Asking to Be Brought to Life? {Aesthete Aperture}

Hey, Everyone! This is Susie deVille, Founder & CEO of the Innovation & Creativity Institute. In today’s episode of the Aesthete Aperture, we are going to The Bascom art center in Highlands, North Carolina. The Bascom buildings are comprised of barns from Pennsylvania, and the pottery barn on the site contains timbers from the former Crane’s Riding Stables which stood on the property until The Bascom was constructed approximately 10 years ago. I remember the day of the ground-breaking ceremony. We stood in what was once a horse pasture and walked around looking at renderings of the proposed construction which were cleverly displayed on artist easels. The vision for the project was clear and incredibly exciting.

Today, the center is home to renowned exhibitions, art classes, stellar events, lectures, and dances. Each time I visit The Bascom, I am reminded of the compelling power of having a vision, and the willingness to bring it to life. What is it that you see that is asking to be brought to life?
