Principal for Creative Leadership and Transformation
President & Founder of the Innovation & Creativity Institute
I am your creative confidence catalyst! With nearly a decade of creative leadership experience and a lifetime of entrepreneurial practice, I help organizations grow and reach their full potential by getting you to unleash your inner creativity and foster innovation within your business - and yourself.
As President & Founder of the Innovation & Creativity Institute, an executive and entrepreneur coaching and consulting firm, I strive to help you and your business find lasting success by cultivating creative leadership development. An expert in entrepreneurship and anthropology in my own rite, I apply my keen intuition in human behavior toward helping executives and entrepreneurs achieve breakthrough results and growth.
Bottom line - I get it. I was you. I am you. I’ve owned businesses. I’m growing businesses. And through the years of learning, one thing has become abundantly clear - businesses succeed the most when executives have the capacity, authority, and know-how to truly lead.
Maybe you’ve dealt with an unsupportive company culture or have some fears of failure, especially if you were to deviate from the “straight and narrow” path that has seemed to always work. Companies sometimes have a resistance to change within the organization.
But the right kind of change can bring lasting results - change that starts with the culture of the company. George Lois, one of my favorite champions of creativity (who is also an art director, designer and author), sums it up best: “Creativity can solve almost any problem.”
I’m here to show you that there is a necessity for innovation to become a mindset of everyone in the organization and a necessity to dispel the myth that innovation comes from a heroic light-bulb moment in the organization.
With a sharp eye, eager mind and deep intuition, I bring integrity to organizational decision-making and, above all, limitless innovation through my unique methodology.
From Creative “Chasm” to Creative “Champion”
About a decade ago, I had an epiphany in an Innovation & Creativity class that was a part of my Master’s in Entrepreneurship program. I discovered that innovation and creativity are inextricably tied to healthy, playful, and courageous leadership that fosters a certain culture, and vice versa. I knew that that was how I wanted to work, how I wanted to create, and how I wanted to teach others. I began devouring every bit of research, information, articles, blogs, etc. pertaining to Innovation & Creativity.
A bit later in 2006, I launched Innovation Compass, LLC, and began doing consulting work for entrepreneurs and corporate executives - ones just like you. My executive and entrepreneur clients garnered tremendous results, but I felt something was missing. I realized I needed to create new curricula that was infused with all the compelling findings my research and “in the trenches” experiences had taught me. I then married this knowledge with a fun instructional design. And thus, ICI was born!
From Creative “Chasm” to Creative “Champion”
From as far back as the second grade when I helped a disadvantaged boy learn to write his name by practicing it over and over, my hand on his, something changed deep within me. I began to feel a desire to free people, to help them express themselves and be the best version of themselves. I wanted them to create consistently, without ceasing - to contribute to and positively change the world. It’s what drives me. It is what drove me to study anthropology, to travel the world, to work in publishing, to launch the Literary Council of Highlands and The Peggy Crosby Community Service Center, to become a real estate top producer and launch my own firm, to become a certified life coach, to get a Master’s, and to launch ICI.
Nothing excites me more than helping executives and entrepreneurs build creative confidence. Moreover, we’re constantly thinking up fun and innovate ways to tap into that creativity, whether it be talks or lectures, or hands-on experiences like art-based instruction, sailing and travel adventures and culinary experiences. Together, we’ll choose an environment that will get the creative juices flowing and offer an unmatched experience. We may meet in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains (pictured at the top of this page), at a retreat site in the US or abroad (Paris, anyone?), or at your company site.
If there is anything I know for certain, it is this: each of us needs all of us. We need your passion, your ideas, your vision, and your leadership. Your connection to creativity is vital.
